More than a city, Venice is a living museum.  Its rich history is evident in every square, from the exotic St. Mark’s Basilica to the imposing Doge’s Palace, home of the Doge (mayor) and seat power of the once powerful Venetian government.   Our walking tour will span the centuries beginning with the Venice of Marco Polo and ending with an explanation of contemporary Venetian life and the race against time to save the city from sinking into the canals on which it was built. We avoid the long lines by using a special entry to the Basilica of St Marks.
